Solid 102: Basic Job Layout & Editing

[8 Hours]

8:00 to 5:00 (30 minutes allowed for setup)

Who should attend: Users of Solid, Solid Manufacturing and Solid Professional, along with potential users, who have completed the SOLID 101 class. (Solid Design users will benefit more from Design classes.)

Purpose: Provide the student with an understanding of the methods and tools used to produce a typical cabinet type job. Building on information previously covered in SOLID 101, the student will learn to modify cabinet construction and materials via the schedules and standards. Completion of this class fulfills the minimum training for Solid users.

Curriculum: SOLID 102 introduces room design, wall layout and cabinet placement by offering a hands on opportunity to complete tasks on their own computer after demonstration of the principles by the instructor. This eight hour class will be taught by a veteran Cabinet Vision trainer in a group setting, with 10 or fewer other shops. The information necessary to produce a simple kitchen, including counter tops and moldings will be covered. Program data output will be covered for producing drawings and cut-lists (as well as other output options) for shop use. Each student will produce a sample job during class to reinforce the learning process. All S.C.C. courses offer small group sizes to insure each student receives individual attention when necessary.

After Completing Solid Design 102: The successful student is able to employ the knowledge he has acquired to successfully produce a typical cabinet job. This includes cabinets, counter tops and molding, with necessary drawings and cabinet part (cut) lists. This class (with SOLID 101) provides the foundation for competent and confident use of the Solid program.

Class Requirements: The following are necessary for maximum benefit to the student:

1. This class requires SOLID 101 as a prerequisite.
2. A computer, Pentium 200 or greater, CD-ROM drive, (preferably a laptop). Must be in working order, and setup PRIOR to the beginning of the class Setup and security are the student’s responsibility.
3. Basic familiarity with Microsoft Windows 95 or 98 (NT not supported)
4. A security key is required for SOLID 102.
5. The Solid program is installed & running on your computer.
6. The instructor will use the most current build of SOLID for the class. Contact the Training Department to make sure you have this build installed before the day of your class.
